The 2014 celebration of the International Jazz Day, at the Ennejma Ezzahra palace has been, according to the opinion of all who have the opportunity to attend it, an amazing time. A real feast, to celebrate a music genre, which has always had a prominent place at the Centre for Arab and Mediterranean music. The project of the School of Jazz and the Couleurs Jazz Festival (2002-2010) is still in mind.
The celebration featured an ensemble jazz concert performed by 22 Tunisian jazz artists from the Jazz Club de Tunis, accompanied by visiting American, British and French jazz musicians. The performance marked the largest North African jazz ensemble to date, and was an impressive conclusion to 10 days of jazz workshops led by the visiting jazz artists.
On Saturday, jazz was not only in the concert hall.
It was in the gardens, on the terraces, inside the musical instrument museum. According to his own inspiration, each of the participating musicians offered himself a little corner for a final rehearsal, a final polish. Unforgettable.
A big thumbs- up to all artists, who made the celebration possible. Hats off, to the Tunis Jazz Club and its teams for their precious contribution.
